Ponte de Lima is a beautiful village in the Lima Valley which dates back to 1125. Apart from its beauty it is famous for its Roman Bridge. It was originally a Roman settlement on the road from Braga to Santiago de Compostela.
Santiago de Compostela is of course famous as the final destination on the Pilgrims Way known in Portugal as the Way of St James. That walk commences in Porto through Ponte de Lima and from Ponte de Lima there is another 154 kilometres to go.
It is a beautiful part of Portugal. Its landscape, its buildings and its culture allow the visitor a taste of the authentic Portugal. The National Park Peneda – Gerês is one of the most beautiful in Portugal.
And for those with modern tastes accommodation, restaurants and golf are all available.
On your journey to Vouzela you will experience the warmth and hospitality of the people, the culture, and the produce of central and northern Portugal.
Vouzela is 30 minutes from Viseu, Lamego, and an hour from Portugal’s third largest city Coimbra. It was first settled in the 11th century, although some diggings show evidence of a Roman presence in early AD. A charming and beautiful town. Regular markets are of interest. And if you time your visit you might enjoy the town’s annual sweets festival at the end of July or the Festa do Castelo Music Festival in the first week of August. Enjoy the fresh air with walks along Vouzela’s eight easy walking routes.

- Enjoy an easy afternoon walk in any of the eight walking routes around Vouzela.

- Enjoy a visit to Termas do São, Pedro do Sul and experience hot springs for thermal cures and a wellness treatment.
- Enjoy the afternoon walking one of Vouzela’s many walking tracks.
