The Historical Way

The Historical Way follows the old trail that pilgrims travellers and locals used on their journeys through the region. The route is 350km long. But over four days you will walk 80kms of this wonderful way as it wanders along rural trails, old villages and towns, cork tree forests, mountain ranges, valleys, rivers and creeks in a journey through time and the culture of the past and the present. And each day you will be returned to the comfort and peace of your accommodation at Herdade da Matinha.

Day 1

• Transport Lisbon to Santiago del Cacém.
• Santiago del Cacém – Vale Seco guided walk (18km).
• Transport after walk to accommodation Herdade da Matinha (superior or junior suite).
• Dinner Herdade da Matinha.

Day 2

• Transport from accommodation to start of guided walk.
• Guided walk Vale Seco to Cercal do Alentejo (23km).
• Transport back to accommodation Herdade da Matinha.
• Dinner Herdade da Matinha.

Day 3

• Transport from accommodation to start of guided walk.
• Guided walk Cercal to Porto Covo (18km).
• Transport back to accommodation Herdade da Matinha.
• Afternoon Cooking lessons.
• Dinner Herdade da Matinha.

Day 4

• Transport from accommodation to start of guided walk.
• Guided walk Cercal do Alentejo to San Luis (21km).
• Transport back to accommodation Herdade da Matinha.
• Dinner Herdade da Matinha.

Day 5

• Depart for your next CoolPortugal experience.
